It is difficult to know why there was only a clear trend for outpatient visits, but the large differences in inpatient episodes between the 2015 and the 2011 cohort may in part be due to the large inflow of immigrants during the 2015 “refugee crisis,” which resulted in an increase in the number of unaccompanied children being admitted to inpatient treatment.
