A clear trend of the dependence of fasting blood glucose level on the optogenetic manipulation was observed. iLight-mediated insulin production in the liver decreased the blood glucose in both WT and Blvra −/− mice, with lower blood glucose levels in Blvra −/− mice (12.93 mM in WT mice versus 9.26 mM in Blvra −/− mice) (Fig. 6f ).
