When analysis was then restricted to cases where patients remained overnight with applicators in-situ (n = 75), the difference in unacceptable pain episodes between cohorts remained significant (p = 0.045), whilst the previously observed improvements in median pain scores did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.06).
