Exploratory sub-group analysis showed that participants on n-3 PUFA supplementation with a low omega-3 index (DHA + EPA ≤ 4.83 %, representing the lowest quartile of omega 3 index distribution) at baseline showed a trend towards less cognitive decline over 36 months in comparison to subjects on placebo with low baseline omega-3 index.
