Analysis of the Chao1 index revealed that although the species richness in the PC-treated group was slightly higher than that in the control group, the difference between the two groups did not reach statistical significance ( Fig. 4 A), indicating that PC treatment did not have a significant impact on the species richness of the gut microbiome.
