Silencing of either XBP1, ATF4 or ATF6 alone showed a trend towards suppression, but not complete inhibition of C5aR1 mRNA induction under hypoxia, suggesting that the UPR pathways act in a redundant manner to regulate C5aR1 (Fig. 2H and Supplementary Fig. 2N ).
