After controlling for demographic covariates (e.g., age, socioeconomic status, and race), as well as parental support, experiences of victimization, receipt of puberty blockers, and exposure to gender identity conversion therapy, the authors found that, while the adjusted odds ratio (aOR = 0.73) for suicide attempts did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.16), participants who had received hormone therapy had significantly lower odds of seriously considering suicide than participants who had not received hormone therapy (aOR = 0.74, p < 0.001).
