While there is a strong trend toward reducing corticosteroid use in pediatric IBD due to known adverse effects, high-dose pulse therapy may represent a strategy to limit cumulative steroid exposure in selected severe cases by achieving faster disease control and avoiding prolonged tapering regimens.
