Although this difference did not reach statistical significance, cognitive decliners exhibited trends toward younger age ( p = 0.070), more years of education ( p = 0.080), longer interval between stroke onset and baseline MMSE ( p = 0.089), and lower levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) ( p = 0.055) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) ( p = 0.076) than non-decliners ( Table 1 ).
