ritical care[ 17 , 18 ] and increasingly applied in obstetric settings.[ 19 ] Our results demonstrated comparable ONSD reductions in both groups, returning to baseline levels at similar intervals, consistent with established cerebroprotective benefits of MgSO4.[ 8 ] Although DEX’s adjunctive impact did not reach statistical significance, its α2-mediated catecholamine suppression may confer metabolic advantages by decreasing cerebral oxygen demand.[ 20 ] Emerging evidence further suggests neuroprotective properties, including blood-brain barrier stabilisation and anti-inflammatory effects that could theoretically mitigate ICT.[ 21 ] The observed trends indicate that DEX might potentiate MgSO4’s effects rather than acting independently, warranting targeted investigation of its ICT modulation in pre-eclampsia.
