During the catalytic cycle of HR-PKS, multiple stereogenic centers are introduced by the methyltransferase (MT), ketoreductase (KR), dehydratase (DH), and enoylreductase (ER) domains. While the unambiguous assignment of stereochemistry is time-consuming, it is quite significant in developing natural product-based pharmaceuticals.
