Overall, we found small effects of group in both the full and closely matched sample: for the ToM network, reduced similarity was significant in the full sample ((NT: m = 0.44, sd = 0.17; ASD: m = 0.37, sd = 0.20; β = 0.19, SE = 0.04, t = 2.03, p = 0.045, d = 0.2), and showed a trend for the closely matched sample (NT: m = 0.43, sd = 0.16; ASD: m = 0.37, sd = 0.20; β = 0.21, SE = 0.04, t = 1.8, p = 0.08, d = 0.22) (see Fig. 5 and SI Table S2 for full model details).
