hs-CRP At follow-up, we found that hs-CRP was elevated among participants who had a HDP in the MIREC index pregnancy (9 years prior) and among those who had recurrent pregnancy complications prior to the follow-up visit compared to those with uncomplicated pregnancies; however, this elevation did not reach statistical significance. hs-CRP has been deemed a robust biomarker of chronic systemic inflammation and a risk marker for CVD and insulin resistance ( 66 , 67 ).
