The general question about placebo use failed to reach statistical significance: 62% of FND patients were generally in favour of doctors using deceptive placebo treatments, compared with 72% of non-FND patients (question 1: Pearson’s χ 2 : χ 2 (1)=2.6, p=0.10, V= −0.08), with 16% being strongly opposed (compared with 12% of non-FND patients) (Pearson’s χ 2 : χ 2 (1)=1.9, p=0.16, V= −0.06).
