When database use was assessed annually ( figure 3 ), a clear trend towards the use of datasets over published literature has been seen since 2019/2020 from 29.6% of reported databases in 2018/2019 to 74.3% in 2022/2023; however, a slight increase in the use of published literature was seen in 2023/2024.
