The RBC, although still in the normal range with 6–8 × 10 6 cells/μL, decreased after 7 days of heat stress and showed a trend toward lower hemoglobin and hematocrit in HS than in PF cows, suggesting the onset of normochromic normocytic anemia with unaltered MCH, MCHC, and MCV.
