A recent systematic review of 17 studies involving 2,900 patients showed a trend favoring the use of higher prophylactic anticoagulant doses in those with BMIs of > 30 to reduce the recurrence of embolic events without significant bleeding effects [ 9 ], as shown in Figure 1 .
