Among these, lack of knowledge about DR was significantly associated with late presentation ( p = 0.002), while other factors such as cost ( p = 0.073), fear of discovery ( p = 0.089), and access to eye care ( p = 0.112) did not reach statistical significance. 4 Discussion The mean age of our study population; patients with diabetes (50 years) was similar to other hospital‐based studies conducted by in Jordan [ 16 ] and Turkey [ 17 ], but unlike other developing countries [ 18 , 19 ], where patients were much younger.
