Probiotics also significantly lowered relapse risk in recurrent pouchitis (OR 0.03, 95% CI 0.00–0.25) and showed a trend toward reducing clinical recurrence in inactive ulcerative colitis (OR 0.65, 95% CI 0.42–1.01), although no protective effect was found for Crohn’s disease.
