While the difference in NFE2L2 mutation frequency did not reach statistical significance (15% vs 7%; P = 0.246)—likely due to moderate sample size— NFE2L2 is recurrently mutated in cervical cancer and has been consistently associated with platinum resistance and poor prognosis in multiple cancer types, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). 16 , 17 NFE2L2 , which encodes the NRF2 transcription factor, is a master regulator of the cellular antioxidant response.
