3.6 Post study assessment of future need There was a nearly significant difference between the groups in distribution of the need for poststudy care ( p = 0.050), with more participants directly resuming ordinary maintenance care in the surgery group than in the laser group, who in greater extent needed an extra follow‐up visit (Table 5 ). 4 DISCUSSION The present study could neither establish equivalence between the conventional surgery and diode laser treatment of peri‐implantitis, regarding mean changes in PPD and MBL, nor demonstrate significant differences in clinical, radiographical, immunological, and microbiological outcomes.
