The analysis revealed the presence of 21 genera, among which were those more frequently found in both groups (healthy and with caries), including Streptococcus , Capnocytophaga , Leptotrichia , Lautropia , Neisseria , and Porphyromonas , although intergroup differences did not reach statistical significance at the genus level. 19 In our study, while we did not include a caries-free control group, we considered the different stages of carious lesions and identified 47 bacterial genera, thus providing a more complete bacterial profile.
