However, in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in the EMPEROR-Preserved (Empagliflozin Outcome Trial in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction) [ 114 , 115 ], although the decline in eGFR was notably more gradual in the empagliflozin group compared to the placebo group, the relative risk reduction for events characterized by a sustained ≥40% decline in eGFR was only marginally lower (5%) in the empagliflozin group [ 116 ], This difference, however, failed to reach statistical significance.
