When analyzing the effect of chain length on lid mobility and on the stabilization of the enzyme’s active conformation, it was observed that the chemically modified variants showing the highest specific activities upon CTAB addition—CZ, AA, and SC (with carbon chain lengths of 1, 6, and 4, respectively)—did not follow a clear trend with respect to chain length ( Figure 1 ).
