Although this comparison did not reach statistical significance (15.7% [COT] vs. 9.7% [HFNC]; P = 0.41), the numerically lower failure rate in the HFNC group warrants further investigation with larger sample sizes to determine whether its use at maximal settings provides a clinically meaningful advantage in preventing severe desaturation.
