These analyses demonstrated that functional measures such as the TUG test and nursing care level were independently associated with incident vertebral fractures, whereas bone turnover markers (TRACP-5b, pentosidine, BMD) and nutritional/social factors (albumin, alcohol intake, number of teeth) did not reach statistical significance.
