Past studies also reported similar HR ranges in chicken embryos, however many focused on the final week of incubation, including 262 bpm on day 14 to 270 bpm prior to hatch ( Laughlin et al., 1976 ), 230-250 bpm through days 15-17 with higher female HR values approaching significance ( Glahn et al., 1987 ), means between 200 and 300 bpm depending on the embryo and time measured ( Moriya et al., 2000 ), and 207-314 bpm on days 19 and 20 ( Aubert et al., 2004 ).
