When comparing the age at splenectomy among the 11 splenectomized CTEPH patients and the nine splenectomized PE patients (from the two PE groups combined), CTEPH patients were numerically younger (median age 28 years, IQR 19–43 years) at the time of splenectomy than were PE patients (median age 44 years, IQR 37–49), however this did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.13).
