This statistical result is fairly robust; if we assume a stronger random effects structure with per-participant random slopes for gender, 11 we still see a significant increase for -en with feminine nouns ( β = 0.65, se = 0.17, z = 3.73, p < 0.001), although the -e increase for masculine nouns is only marginally significant ( β = 0.24, se = 0.12, z = 1.94, p < 0.1).
