In our study, although the lower adherence rate among immigrants did not reach statistical significance, this pattern is consistent with previous literature on refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, whose reduced engagement is attributed to language difficulties, cultural differences, stigma, limited social support networks, administrative challenges and mistrust of the healthcare system (Bilican et al. 2025 ; McCann et al. 2016 ).
