Although relevant data were lacking in many studies, particularly with regard to AEs, the pooled analysis showed a trend toward more AEs in peroral compared to peranal MSEs (6.1% [95%‐CI: 3.1%–11.8%] vs. 3.2% [95%‐CI: 1.6%–6.2%] but similar rates of SAE (1.7% [95%‐CI: 1.1%–2.5%] vs. 1.3% [95%‐CI: 0.6%–2.6%]).
