The largest randomized controlled trial to date, the DAGMAR trial, found that vitamin D supplementation (2800 IU daily) did not improve remission rates in Graves disease patients treated with antithyroid drugs and, paradoxically, showed a trend toward worse outcomes (42% failure rate versus 32% in placebo) ( 15 ).
