In the included studies, EPOAP have been administered for at least two weeks [ 17 – 21 ], with only one cohort study showing borderline significance for EPOAP used for ≤ 2 weeks [ 19 ].

Two cohort studies, involving a total of 133 patients, reported that a mean duration of approximately one month of EPOAP showed a trend toward a lower risk of reinfection, although the difference was not significant, possibly due to small sample size [ 18 , 20 ].
