We also observed linear and negative associations of the standardized muscle volume with the diameter in L1, L3 (r = −0.22, p = 0.001; r = −0.18, p = −0.011) and tortuosity of the total aorta (r = −0.30, p < 0.001), DTA (r = −0.34, p < 0.001) and AA (r = −0.28, p < 0.001); there was a negative association between standardized muscle volume with the diameter in L2 (r = −0.13, p = 0.061), but did not reach statistical significance; as shown in Supplementary Figure S4. 3.5 Intra- and interobserver variability The intraobserver reliability for measuring L1-5 and aortic tortuosity was excellent, with values ranging from 0.963 to 0.998.
