In our study, both EPTB and PTB among new patients showed a trend of decreasing proportions of MDR/RR-TB over the study period, consistent with a previous study conducted in South Korea. 30 This decline is likely attributable to the introduction of new diagnostic methods, such as the Xpert MTB/RIF assay, the expanded clinical use of new anti-TB drugs, such as bedaquiline and delamanid, and repurposed drugs, such as linezolid.
The proportion of EPTB among all patients with TB demonstrated an increasing trend over the study period.
