Significantly enhanced plasma IL-6 and sgp130 levels along with a strong trend towards increased sIL-6R levels have been also reported in older adults with insulin resistance and hypertriglyceridemia suggesting pathophysiological effects of the trans-signaling in diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome disproportionally affecting older adults [ 90 ].
