Patients with histological UIP patterns tended to have higher total cell counts compared to those with histological non-UIP patterns, but the difference did not reach statistical significance (231.4 ± 119.4 and 135.8 ± 68.7, respectively, p = 0.063), and there was no difference in BAL cell counts between these two groups.
