7 Subsequent analysis evaluating data from the Daily and Nocturnal trials separately suggested that this effect was more pronounced among patients with negligible urine output at baseline and that residual kidney function (RKF) may influence the effect of intense hemodialysis on LVM, although individual interactions did not reach statistical significance in individual trial analyses. 6 RKF is associated with improved dialysis adequacy and better survival among patients with ESKD undergoing hemodialysis. 9 , 10 Patients with preserved RKF demonstrate better volume control and uremic toxin clearance than anuric patients, contributing to improved fluid balance and BP control, which in turn can mitigate the progression of LVH in patients with ESKD, 10 , 11 potentially explaining the favorable effect of RKF on survival in these patients.
