Epidemiological studies provide supporting evidence: in a population-based nested case–control study from Quebec involving 217 hospital-diagnosed epilepsy cases and 2170 matched controls, current statin users had a significantly lower risk of epilepsy (adjusted rate ratio = 0.65, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.46–0.92), while past users showed a trend toward reduced risk (adjusted rate ratio = 0.72, 95% CI: 0.39–1.30).
