There are three main findings of our study: (1) both the Masimo MightySat Rx and the Apple Watch Series 7 often overestimate true blood oxygen saturation values, with 44% and 56% of their measurements in this study, respectively, found to be higher than the ground truth SaO 2 measures; (2) both devices have lower accuracy during hypoxemia than at normal blood oxygen saturation; and (3) both devices showed a trend toward lower accuracy when the ODR is larger than 2% per minute, but the difference is not statistically significant.
