A longitudinal study [ 45 ] based on a 19-year follow-up of more than 800 middle-aged and older Americans found that those who slept 7–8 h were 10% less likely to achieve healthy aging than those who slept < 7 or > 8 h at night, but this did not reach statistical significance.
