Previous studies within paediatric dermatology showed a trend towards higher satisfaction following video consultations than telephone; however, most were service evaluations and these modalities have not been compared in a trial. 17–21 It should be noted that most of our survey participants had experienced telephone consultations (92%), associated with higher levels of dissatisfaction, compared with video consultations (28%), which may have contributed to the preference for face-to-face appointments within our sample.
