Regarding renin–angiotensin system activation, plasma renin and aldosterone levels, assessed at baseline prior to the initiation of antihypertensive therapy, were higher in patients with renal artery abnormalities compared to those without, although the differences did not reach statistical significance, suggesting a possible involvement of RAAS activation in this subgroup.
