Quantitative analysis showed that the mean firing frequency increased from 4.00 ± 0.67 Hz under control conditions to 6.67 ± 1.11 Hz after serotonin application; however, this increase did not reach statistical significance ( n = 15, paired Student’s t -test, p > 0.05, Figure 1 E,F).
