In pooled comparative analyses, prophylactic TAE was associated with lower 30-day or in-hospital rebleeding (OR 0.35, 95% CI 0.15–0.85) and lower mortality (OR 0.28, 95% CI 0.10–0.83), whereas the reduction in reintervention did not reach statistical significance (OR 0.68, 95% CI 0.43–1.08) ( 23 ).
