A postoperative arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis obtained at T 0 + 2 h demonstrated a clear trend toward metabolic correction, although values had not yet fully normalized: pH 7.74, PaCO 2 31 mmHg, K + 2.3 mmol/L, Cl 81 mmol/L, BEecf + 22.7 mmol/L, and lactate 2.6 mmol/L.
