Consistent results were found in a multicenter PREDIMED subgroup analysis of participants without diabetes at baseline (number = 3541): compared to the low-fat advice group, the MedDiet+EVOO group had a significantly lower risk of developing diabetes (multivariable-adjusted HR 0.60), while the MedDiet+nuts group did not reach statistical significance (HR 0.82) [ 78 ].
