Laryngeal elevation (LAT) was determined in absolute values as well as in relation to the distance between the second and fourth cervical vertebra (C2–C4); while the absolute LAT in OPMD patients was marginally reduced compared with controls, the values of the relative LAT did not reach statistical significance when comparing IBM and OPMD to healthy controls.
