A total of 106 paediatric patients aged ≤ 30 years with nonmetastatic osteosarcoma were randomly assigned to immediate surgery or presurgical chemotherapy, which showed a trend towards improved event-free survival (5-year, 69% versus 61%) and overall survival (5-year, 79% versus 76%) in the immediate surgery group compared with the primary chemotherapy group [26] .
