Although patients with diagnosis codes of rheumatic diseases were found to have a significantly higher rate of complications compared to those without, this association did not reach statistical significance in a multivariate analysis ( p = 0.07), implying that the difference might be driven by the higher rate of baseline comorbidities and the female sex of these patients.
